Job Overview

The Senior Hydrogeologist will play a critical role in our strategic water resource management initiatives. As we expand our reach in the Mchinji district, we require a technical expert to lead groundwater assessment, modeling, and sustainability studies. Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive groundwater mapping and aquifer characterization studies in rural and peri-urban areas.
• Develop and implement advanced groundwater modeling to predict long-term water availability under various climate scenarios.
• Supervise field teams during borehole drilling, water quality testing, and geophysical surveys.
• Collaborate with local government authorities to integrate hydrogeological data into regional water management policies.
• Prepare technical reports and feasibility studies for large-scale water infrastructure projects.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of water interventions on local community health and sanitation.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in groundwater modeling software such as MODFLOW or FEFLOW.
• Expertise in interpreting geophysical survey data (Electrical Resistivity Tomography).
• Strong project management skills with experience leading multi-disciplinary field teams.

Education

Candidates must possess a minimum of a Master of Science in Hydrogeology, Geology, or a closely related Earth Sciences discipline. Experience

A minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional experience in hydrogeological investigations, preferably within the NGO or international development sector. Proven track record of managing groundwater projects in sub-Saharan Africa is highly desirable. You should have experience working in remote field locations and managing diverse teams of technicians and community volunteers.

Salary
