Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Laboratory Microbiologist to lead our microbiological testing protocols and ensure the absolute safety of our production lines. This role is critical to our mission of providing safe, high-quality beverages to the Malawian market. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the microbiological testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Develop and implement advanced microbial detection methods to ensure product integrity.
- Overseof environmental monitoring programs within the production facility to prevent contamination.
- Investigate and troubleshoot any microbiological deviations or non-conformances in the production process.
- Maintain and calibrate sensitive laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and reproducible results.
- Train and mentor junior laboratory technicians on standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure all laboratory activities comply with ISO and HACCP standards.
Required Skills
- Advanced expertise in aseptic techniques and microbial identification.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex biological data.
- Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
- Strong communication skills for reporting findings to the production and quality management teams.
Education
A Master of Science in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a closely related biological science is mandatory. A Bachelor’s degree alone will not be considered for this senior-level position.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of 5 to 7 years of professional experience in a food or beverage laboratory setting. Proven experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is essential for success in this role. We are looking for individuals who have demonstrated leadership in quality control environments.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 850,000 SSP to 1,200,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s specific expertise and previous experience in the industry.
