We are seeking a highly qualified Senior Metallurgical Engineer to join our specialized extraction team in Mchinji. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement advanced metallurgical testing protocols to optimize mineral recovery rates.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of crushing, grinding, and flotation circuits.
- Conduct detailed mass and water balance calculations to ensure process stability.
- Analyze metallurgical data to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the geological team to understand ore characteristics and their impact on processing.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to reduce reagent consumption and energy usage.
- Ensure all metallurgical processes comply with international environmental and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Advanced expertise in hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes.
- Proficiency in metallurgical modeling software and process simulation tools.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex chemical and physical data.
- In-depth knowledge of mineral separation techniques and reagent chemistry.
- Excellent leadership and project management capabilities.

Education
A Master of Science in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory. A Bachelor’s degree alone will not be considered for this senior-level position. Professional certification in process engineering is highly desirable.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of direct experience in mineral processing within a large-scale mining environment. Proven track record in managing metallurgical plant operations and leading technical teams is essential. Experience in the African mining sector is a significant advantage for those seeking employment in Malawi.
Salary
The monthly salary for this position ranges from 2,500,000 SSP to 4,500,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s specific expertise and technical certifications. This package is competitive within the regional mining industry.
