Job Overview
The Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) will lead Nestlé Malawi’s procurement strategy, overseeing sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiations for all categories. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the CPO will drive cost‑saving initiatives, ensure ethical sourcing, and align procurement activities with corporate sustainability goals. This role is pivotal in supporting Nestlé’s commitment to quality, innovation, and community development across Malawi.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
- Lead a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Negotiate high‑value contracts with local and international suppliers, ensuring best value and compliance.
- Drive cost‑reduction initiatives and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement efficiency.
- Ensure ethical sourcing, supplier diversity, and adherence to Nestlé’s sustainability standards.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including Finance, Operations, and Quality Assurance.
- Manage risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for supply chain disruptions.
- Oversee procurement systems and digital tools to enhance transparency and data‑driven decision making.

Education

Experience
Minimum of 10 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the FMCG or related industry. Proven track record of delivering cost savings and managing complex supplier relationships.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 2,500,000 to SSP 3,500,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based bonuses are available.
