Job Overview

The Downstream Operations Analyst will support Shell’s downstream activities in Malawi, focusing on optimizing fuel supply chain performance, monitoring market trends, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The analyst will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including logistics, commercial, and health‑safety, to deliver data‑driven insights that enhance profitability and operational resilience. Key Responsibilities

• Analyze fuel inventory levels, sales data, and market demand to forecast supply requirements.
• Develop and maintain dashboards that track key performance indicators (KPIs) for downstream operations.
• Identify cost‑saving opportunities and recommend process improvements across the supply chain.
• Ensure compliance with Malawi’s petroleum regulations, environmental standards, and Shell’s internal policies.
• Collaborate with logistics partners to optimize transportation routes and reduce delivery lead times.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management highlighting operational performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Support the implementation of digital tools and automation initiatives to enhance data accuracy.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar analytics tools.
• Excellent communication abilities to convey complex data insights to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Knowledge of downstream oil & gas processes, including refining, storage, and distribution.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
• Familiarity with Malawi’s regulatory environment for petroleum products is an advantage.

Education

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in data analytics, supply chain management, or petroleum engineering are considered a plus.

Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in downstream oil & gas operations, supply chain analytics, or a comparable field. Experience within the African market, particularly in Malawi or neighboring countries, will be highly valued.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 1,200,000 to 1,800,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
