Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models for solar, wind, and hybrid renewable projects, incorporating capital expenditures, operating costs, revenue forecasts, and tax implications.
  • Conduct sensitivity and scenario analyses to assess project viability under varying market conditions, including changes in electricity tariffs, fuel prices, and policy incentives.
  • Prepare comprehensive investment memoranda, business cases, and presentation decks for senior management, board committees, and potential investors.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to gather accurate technical data, ensuring financial assumptions reflect realistic project parameters.
  • Monitor ongoing project performance against budgets, forecast cash flows, and report variances to finance leadership.
  • Assist in negotiating financing terms with banks, development finance institutions, and private equity partners, ensuring compliance with internal risk policies.
  • Support the preparation of regulatory filings and compliance reports required by the Energy Regulatory Authority of Malawi.
  • Stay updated on global renewable energy financing trends, policy developments, and market incentives to provide strategic recommendations.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling using Excel or specialized software (e.g., @RISK, PVSyst).
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex technical data and translate it into financial insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports and presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and the associated cost structures.

Education
