Job Overview

We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Hydrogeology Specialist to lead our groundwater assessment and management programs in the Ntchowe region. This role is critical for identifying sustainable water sources and mitigating the risks of groundwater depletion and contamination. The successful candidate will oversee complex field investigations, manage large datasets, and provide technical leadership to junior hydrologists and field technicians. Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive groundwater modeling and aquifer characterization projects.

• Analyze complex hydrogeological data to predict groundwater flow and recharge rates.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in groundwater modeling software such as MODFLOW or FEFLOW.
• Expertise in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for spatial data analysis.

• Deep understanding of local hydrological conditions and regulatory frameworks in Malawi.

Education

A Master’s Degree in Hydrogeology, Earth Sciences, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory. A PhD in a specialized geological discipline is highly preferred.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in hydrogeological investigations, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory capacity. Proven experience in managing large-scale water resource projects in sub-Saharan Africa is a significant advantage.

Salary

The monthly salary for this position ranges from 850,000 SSP to 1,200,000 SSP, depending on the candidate’s expertise and qualifications.
