Job Overview
The Marine Conservation Specialist will lead WWF Malawi’s marine and freshwater ecosystem initiatives, focusing on protecting the biodiversity of Lake Chilwa and the coastal marine zones of the Indian Ocean. This role involves designing and implementing science‑based conservation strategies, engaging stakeholders, and monitoring ecological outcomes. Key Responsibilities

- Facilitate community outreach programs to promote sustainable fishing practices and alternative livelihoods.

- Prepare technical reports, scientific publications, and grant proposals to secure funding and disseminate findings.
- Lead capacity‑building workshops for local partners, NGOs, and community leaders.

Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with experience in ecological data analysis and statistical modeling.

- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing applications.
- Project management expertise, including budgeting, timeline development, and performance monitoring.

Education
A Master’s degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. or equivalent research experience will be given priority consideration.

Salary
