Job Overview

The Satellite Network Integration Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining satellite communication solutions that support Orange Malawi’s expanding network footprint. Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer satellite communication architectures that integrate with existing terrestrial networks.
• Conduct site surveys, RF planning, and link budget analysis to ensure optimal performance.
• Lead the installation, configuration, and commissioning of satellite terminals, modems, and associated equipment.
• Collaborate with vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts, manage SLAs, and ensure timely delivery of hardware and services.
• Perform rigorous testing, validation, and troubleshooting of satellite links to meet quality of service (QoS) standards.
• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including schematics, configuration files, and operational procedures.
• Monitor network performance using NOC tools, generate performance reports, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and field technicians.
• Stay updated on emerging satellite technologies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning by ensuring resilient satellite backup paths.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of satellite communication protocols, modulation schemes, and antenna technologies.
• Proficiency with network design tools such as OSPF, BGP, and MPLS.
• Hands‑on experience with VSAT, Ka‑band, and L‑band equipment.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical mindset.
• Effective communication skills for cross‑team collaboration and vendor management.
• Project management experience, including budgeting and timeline adherence.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks governing satellite operations in Malawi.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Satellite Professional (CSP) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in satellite network design, integration, and maintenance. Prior experience in a telecom operator environment, especially with satellite backhaul solutions, is highly preferred.

Salary
