Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Hydrology Modeler to join our specialized technical team in Nsanje. This role is critical to our operations, as you will be responsible for developing, calibrating, and implementing complex mathematical models to simulate groundwater and surface water interactions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain sophisticated 3D groundwater flow models using industry-standard software.

• Analyze large datasets from hydrological monitoring stations to calibrate predictive models.
• Prepare technical reports and impact assessments for government and international regulatory bodies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geologists, civil engineers, and environmental scientists.
• Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior hydrologists and data technicians.

Required Skills

• Advanced proficiency in MODFLOW, FEFLOW, or similar numerical modeling software.
• Expertise in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and spatial data analysis.
• Strong statistical analysis skills and experience with programming languages like Python or R.
• Exceptional technical writing and ability to communicate complex scientific data to non-experts.
• In-depth knowledge of hydrological principles and hydrogeological processes.

Education

A minimum of a Master of Science degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Geosciences, or a closely related field is mandatory. A PhD is highly preferred for this senior-level position.

Experience

Candidates must possess at least 5 years of professional experience in hydrological modeling, preferably within an environmental consultancy or a large-scale water management agency. Proven experience in managing complex modeling projects from inception to completion is essential.

Salary
